Del Cielo – Wish And Wait LP
The record has very light wear along it's edges and very light shelf wear from shipping to Stickfigure.
"I've had this LP for a little while now, I keep intending to do a review but never quite get around to it. Which is a shame, because it's a dashed fine record. Del Cielo spin out 10 songs of top notch indie rock that to my ears sounds to inhabit a ballpark similar to that of say, Sarge or Discount. OK, I've given the game away, they have girl vocals. That's how it always works - bands with female singers get compared to other bands with female singers. I apologise for not being able to buck this weak trend.
The tunes are extremely catchy and often reasonably fast and bouncy with enjoyable riffage and strong vocals. When they aren't doing that they slow things down a touch, such as on second song "April Fools" which has a more melancholy sound. One of my favourite tracks is "All-Star", which builds up from a nice and straight-forward intro into a more rocking song. I like how the bass sounds on this record, it definitely stands out because Del Cielo is a 3 piece so it's easy to follow how it pulls the songs along. I also like how on "Tripping" the song starts off with a nice effect which makes it sound you like have put the needle down on a dusty old 7". Neat!
I am not sure what else to write now actually as I am not so good at describing this sort of music. I think this is a fantastic LP, it really rather surprised me to be honest as I wasn't blown away by what I had heard by the band before (admittedly just a split 7"). Every song on this record is really good, and has an impact. And that's what good albums are all about. I guess this is probably not going to be up everyone reading's street, but take a chance and check it out anyway. Do it. Go on. Surprise yourself." - Andy Malcolm
